welcomed ladies at 7:00 p.m. Diane Diehl, led us in opening
prayer.
Minutes stand as read.
Financial Report was was accepted
for audit.
Officers' Reports:
Louanna reported that we are
still checking on ladies in assisted living. If anyone hears of a former member
in a retirement or assistant living facility please let her know. Kelli Hall
reported on funeral dinners. There have been three funerals since our last
meeting. Kelli praised the women who captained these funerals. Special thanks
to Betty Coffey, Barbara McFadden, Arlene Johnson and Dolly Morrison. She is
hoping someone will captain the Hispanic funerals, and they could use some more
captains. Ladies that bring dishes need to make sure their names are on the
bottom of their dish. Janice Woods mentioned the last of the membership packets
have been delivered.
Barb McAdam is planning family Bingo Mania. It
will be on February 19th from 1:30-4:00. Diane Diehl is working with Beth
Huston on the Befrienders project. It is Catholics meeting other Catholics in
their neighborhoods. More information to follow. Rose Glass is collecting
deactivated cell phones for the Women's Shelter during the month of February.
There will be boxes left in the back of the church for phones. It will be
announced in the bulletin. Rose reminded ladies of activities at ISU for Human
Rights Day.
Tonight's guest speaker was Thais Ayre, Holy Spirit
Stewardship Coordinator. She spoke on the ministry of stewardship and how it
enhances the sharing of our gifts and talents. She encouraged anyone interested
to call the Pastoral Office, more information to follow in the
bulletin.
Unfinished Business:
Louanna thanked Kelli Hall
and Janice Woods for chairing the Christmas party. We collected canned goods
and paper products for the Women's Shelter. We collected $200 to donate to St.
Vincent de Paul.
The Holiday Card Party was a success there were 32
players who enjoyed a day of fun and lunch. Thank you to Dolly Morrison for
chairing this event. Another thank you to Dolly for hosting the Eastern Deanery
Holiday Brunch.
Special thanks to Arlene Johnson, Christine Hofman,
Margaret Christensen, Kelli Hall and Louanna Maheras for providing lunch and
dinner for the deanery priests and pastoral staff. During our February meeting
we will break up into teams to discuss our plans for the new
kitchen.
Chili Cook-off is on February 11th. Claudia Allen is chairing
this event. Claudia will meet with officers to update on information. Entries
are needed, along with desserts to auction off.
New Business:
We made approximately $1800 on the Fall Festival. We need to start
thinking on how to spend some of it and what charities we are going to donate
to. The Scholarship fund comes out of the Raffle money. Rita will have a report
at our next general meeting on the Fall Festival.
The International Food
Festival is February 25-26, they have asked us to donate funds towards the
paper goods.
Diane Diehl made a motion to donate $300 to the
International Food Fair, and Arlene Johnson seconded the motion. The voting was
unanimous in the affirmative.
The Holy Spirit School Auction is
February 4th. We would like to support the school through a donation.
Rose Glass made a motion to donate $100 towards the school auction. Nancy
Davis seconded the motion. The voting was unanimous in the
affirmative.
Diane Diehl made a motion to give Eastern Deanery
$200 from the craft fair. Heather McAdam seconded the motion and the voting was
unanimous in the affirmative.
Thank you to Rita Collins for
providing the door prizes, and thank you to Louanna Maheras and Janice Bisharat
for the refreshments. We still are in need of ladies to bring refreshments for
our meetings.
Closing prayer was offered by Diane Diehl.
